Yihudim (Unifications) are braided or interlaced combinations of different Names of God. While the 72 Names are standalone tools, a Yihud is an active spiritual unification used during meditation to connect different spiritual dimensions (Sefirot) and unite the upper spiritual worlds with the lower physical world to manifest miracles.
Yihudim can be longer than three letters because they are constructed by weaving multiple Divine Names together, letter by letter, like a braid of hair. The Kabbalist uses this technique to impregnate a specific request with higher divine power and then ground it in the physical world.
